Topic: Favorite disposable brand

I have bought Ivy one bag of disposables for night times.  They are almost gone now, and I don't mind them, but I find she smells really bad in 'sposies.... smells like pee after a single wee.  We also do a LOT of cross border shopping, and I have noticed that Huggies and Pampers are about the same price here as there, but there are Luvs and such down there that we can't get here.  I am thinking of buying a different brand when we need to get another bag, so tell me, whats your favorite brand?  She will wear one overnight and thats it, and is all around little, not tall and skinny, not short and round, just well proportioned but teeny.

Right now I have her in Huggies Pure and Natural (which I have never seen down there) which I like because they are closer to cloth with fewer chemicals etc, but like I said, they stink.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

Bronx wears Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive. I tried Huggies but they leaked. I tried Luvs, Parents Choice (Walmart Brand), Up & Up(Target Brand), and those all seemed to feel like plastic and not as soft as Pampers and Huggies. Also, they weren't made as well and I was changing them way more often than with Pampers. So I used twice as many. I really like Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive. He has never had a diaper rash (knock on wood). He is almost in size 4 diapers and the Swaddlers Sensitive are pretty hard to find at stores like Walmart or Target and when I can find them they dont carry them past size 2 but babies r us carries them up to size 5. They are just way more expensive there. I think I saw yesterday a 136 pack of the Swaddlers Sensitive was $48. Crazy more expensive than Walmart.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

I loved pampers swaddlers when the girls were little. When they got older I liked the pampers crusiers or if I was running low on cash I would get luvs. Huggies I hated because they would leak and the generic brands were just cheaply made.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

We love luvs.  No they aren't as soft and plushy, but thy contain the wettest of wets and the nastiest of poos.  They're also a bit cheaper and don't break his sensitive little bum out.  So win win in my book!

Re: Favorite disposable brand

We used Pampers Sensitive from the time Beck was born until he was potty trained (except for the 2 minutes we did gdiapers and cloth)   We liked them a lot, never had leaking issues and they kept him rash free.  They were harder to find after size 2,though.  He only went up to size 3 (I think don't quote me on that, though). I found them at Babies R Us and Rite Aid drugstore.  I think we found them at Target a few times--we don't really shop at Target or Walmart so I never really looked consistently.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

We only use one disposable at night since we don't change it for 10+ hrs.  We use Luvs.  Alot cheaper, not much difference in the feeling on the outside if you ask me, and we never have leaking issues even if he is saturated in the morning AND does a poop before we get to change it.  Our kids are very long and thin so we usually go up to the next size right when we reach the weight where the sizes overlap and don't keep them in the smaller size until they reach the max weight for it or else they start looking like low rise bikini briefs smile  And that goes for any brand, not just Luvs.  I like the Earth's Best too although they are a little rougher and pricier.  I pick them up occasionally at a consignment shop for cheaper.

Huggies pure and natural are the absolute WORST for stink! We use Nature Babycare and love them, but you have to order them online.

I loved pampers (their cruisers were my favorites!) but each baby is different smile we were pampers all the way, but my cousins baby leaked out if pampers all the time and she LOVED huggies and the Costco diapers (which never fit my son right)

good luck!

Re: Favorite disposable brand

Definitely Pampers here, though we do use Huggies every now and then if we just want something different.  He has been using the Swaddlers up til now and we bought a box of Baby Dry to try out.  I definitely prefer the Swaddlers, but the Baby Dry hold just as well and are a bit cheaper (same price, but more in the box).  The Baby Dry diapers are exactly like Luvs, except they're not hideous.  Pampers and Luvs are made by the same company...if you didn't already know that.  Someone gave us some Luvs before and we used them but we think they are pretty darn ugly, lol.  They did work just fine though.

Huggies, again, worked just fine.  We just prefer the fit of Pampers on him and I've always just had a preference for Pampers anyway.  We don't have a Target nearby or we would try the Up and Up diapers.  We hear good things about those.

Oh, we also tried the Wal-Mart brand and NEVER again.  We used them with J and they were great.  They've changed them since and they suck!!  The fit was terrible and they leaked.  So we stick with Pampers and the occassional (I know that's not spelled right) Huggies.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

When using disposables we use Pampers Swaddlers also. They are the only ones we can get to fit Sebastian without any leaking issues. He is soooo skinny none of the other brands we've tried work. He will be 11 months old soon and he is wearing a size 3 and is no where near growing out of them. Also no diaper rashes ever. :-)

Re: Favorite disposable brand

Pampers! I was given a few different kinds at my baby shower. When Meeks was tiny I used pampers and huggies. The huggies were really gappy on her. Loved the pampers. She's in luvs right now and idk how i feel. They work ok but they stink even if they're barely wet. I haven't tried any others.

We have luck with Seventh Generation and Earth's Best when we are not using cloth...

Re: Favorite disposable brand

i had one pack of the pure and natural when my son was a newborn and they were awful. of every diaper ive used ive found the best ones for him were believe it or not dollar general brand cheapies. walmarts cheapies suck (aka parents choice) but dollar general brand is excellent. hes wore just about every brand and the only one in his whole 20 months of life ive never had a problem with leaking or smelling quite as bad was the dollar general brand. also have never had problems with rashes when he wore them. it may surprise you but sometimes the cheap things are the way to go.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

I use the Kroger grocery store chlorine free diapers.  Basically the same at 7th Generation/Earth's Best, but half the price.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

I was never a fan of the Huggies Pure & Natural - but Huggies always work the best for my son , he is in the Slip-ons right now when he goes to school since he can't wear cloth there and they are awesome since he is so skinny - my friends baby is chunky and they just do not work for him. I also like the Target Brand Up & Up and Luvs if I am shopping with no coupons.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

Huggies.  My test was I would place my hand on a wet diaper and press and if I could feel wetness.  They were never used again... Huggies passed the tested 100%.

Also I didn't like luvs because it was tooo plastic.  I would not like plastic rubbing between my legs.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

I LOVED costcos brand over all other leading brands!!! However with Amazon I'm able to get Earths best for only a few dollars more and way cheaper then Huggies and they work great! I spend $33 for 120. Maybe that's not cheaper but that lasts me a month.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

We use the Huggies pure and natural and I've never noticed a bad smell/stink with them. Baby is only 13 days old though. We love them and plan on buying more. Baby never goes more than a few hours in them....maybe that's why?

Re: Favorite disposable brand

So funny how everyone had different experiences with the same brands! I prefer Huggies Snug and Dry. I don't mind Pampers, but they're my third choice. If I'm running low on cash I get the Target brand instead of Huggies.

I HATE Luvs...they didn't fit right and they leaked. I think those 4 brands are the only ones I've tried.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

We've only ever used Pampers Swaddlers and Huggies Little Movers. We didn't like how there isn't in curve in the leg's of the Pampers. We also had issues with leaks with Pampers. He's been in the premium Huggies since he was around 2 months old. We did try the Pampers Cruisers and Huggies Snug and Dry but we didn't like how they felt.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

Pampers and Huggies were my favs.  Huggies had Disney on them but were a little bulkier.  Pampers had Sesame Street and came with reward points.  I love Mickey/Minnie but decided it was not in my favor to switch back and forth so I stayed with Pampers for the reward points.  Hated Luvs - leaked.  Hated Target brand - sandpaper.  Ironically, Walmart's White Cloud was fine.  But they stopped selling them in my stores.

Now for pull ups we use Huggies.  They work just as well as Pampers but have side tabs that open for stinky changes. Shiloh is now pee pee potty trained and only uses pull ups for poo, so stinky is all there is!

Re: Favorite disposable brand

Our daughter is on the small side, maybe a little long, and we use luvs. We used pampers for our son though...he was a lot rounder and heavier than her and would leak in other brands. We have to order luvs in diapers.com though cause I can't find them anywhere.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

I loved the luvs until they changed them..Got us to about 4 months..Then I went to Huggies..Tried Pampers but they left hives and sores on her(she was allergic to them)..I loved the Huggies Natural but also used the regular..

Re: Favorite disposable brand

We love the Pampers Swaddlers, but they are too expensive to justify purchasing them all the time.  Huggies are okay, too, but we usually just end up using whatever our parents buy or whatever is on sale.  The only brand that we HATE is the Target brand.  They smell terrible and feel even worse.

Re: Favorite disposable brand

LOL OK I am just as confused now.  I forgot to mention in my OP that I hated Pampers on both my other kids, Boog was long and skinny, Moose was short and round, and Pampers not only didnt fit either of them right, but I HATE the chemical powder smell they have sad

I checked out the Luvs at WalMart yesterday and for only $7 a pack I may try a small bag of them to see how they work for her.  Or I can buy 7th generation and Earths Best here as well, so I may grab those when they go on sale (we go through one diaper a day and I still look for deals!)  The Pure and Natural that I buy here were 74 diapers for $30, so maybe the prices down there really are much better then here!  And I never even through to go look at the grocery store, we go to Colville which really only has WalMart, but there is  Save On Foods there too that may have different brands.

Shawna, I did not stat noticing the stink till Ivy was about 2 months old.  And her pee is not that pungent in cloth, so it must be the diaper... though there may be a difference in Huggies north and south of the border too, some things are (like Heinz ketchup, it's different down there them up here, weird!)

Re: Favorite disposable brand

I cringe now when I look back and see photos of K wearing pampers.  The smell is disgusting and just screams "chemicals" to me. We eventually went to all earths best and 7th generation as well as gdiapers. We use Nature Baby for L and have also used 7th Gen and EB.  I prefer the EB but Mom thinks they are a little stiff, she likes the 7th gen but I think they are a little flimsy so the Nature Baby has been a good compromise for us.

Coming back after 2 big leaky messes with luvs to say I hate them!! So much!

Re: Favorite disposable brand

We loved Pampers. Both of my babes leaked in Huggies. I have never noticed a chemical smell on Pampers except the pull ups for big kid kind.
