Topic: BFP from at home IUI - no speculum/catheter?
It's possible we may be using IUI when we ttc. We are debating on it because, even though Heather is comfortable with me using a speculum and catheter, I'm not! However, that desire for a baby is stronger than fear - as you all well know.
Is it necessary to use a speculum and catheter when doing IUI at home? Or can an IUI vial be used like an ICI and just deposited as close to the cervix as possible? With IUI vials being washed, I assume the sperm will die from the ph balance of the vagina, right?
Tell me your stories if you used IUI at home and got a BFP. What did you use, if anything?
Also, I know sperm from ICI lives about 24 hrs. Anyone know how long sperm from IUI lives? I thought it was about 8 hrs but that doesn't make much sense to me since it takes about 6 hrs to even get to the egg. Guess it's still possible though ....
