Topic: WARNING: Hot topic, no judgement
HAD TO SHOUTOUT TO MY TTCers THIS MORNING:
Last night, I had the pleasure of attending a dinner party with a bunch of friends -- very casual, everyone friendly, "Cheers" type attitude. A friend of my has recently found herself pregnant after trying for 3 months (of course, BAH-- and this is number #2). Anyhow, to make a long story short I was shocked when I saw a bunch of people toking on a marijuana joint.... including my preggers friend. I don't personally indulge but like I said, no judgement and I wouldn't have a prob admitting if I did. This IS "weed nation" as CNN calls it.
Well, naturally I asked her about it -- sort of in that non-confrontational way even though inside I'm like "??????" She says she has terrible morning sickness...... okay. She's tried all the meds the doc prescribed even during first preg, none worked. She told me she had been a heavy smoker before she had gotten pregnant (daily, which I kinda suspected) both times. NO JUDGEMENT. She said that during her first preg it had been an issue she talked to her doctor with. Amazingly. her doc didn;'t report her to CPS but told her that there's no evidence it causes harm especially since she was already a regular user. Me:"?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?" She continued to smoke on and off all through the first to help with sickness and appetite. I thought: "Are these doctors hippies?!"
Naturally, I came right home an googled it.http://www.babycenter.com/404_will-smok … 1334464.bc YES, oddly, this was a topic on BabyCenter and BabyandBump among others. CHeck out the comments, You'd be SHOCKED by some of the opinions.
But what do you think? Obviously everyone on this board values and cherishes the blessing of pregnancy so we tend to engage in behavior to try to live "clean" in all respects. But then some will say, what about medical marijuana? It's clean. Right? First off, Do you think marijuana affects female fertility? How do you feel about Marijuana and pregnancy?
Weigh in. And please don't judge, argue or take offense if someone should have a different opinion than your own.
