Topic: Never ending migraines in pregnancy

I'm on day 3 of a migraine.  Staying well hydrated (to the point of peeing every 15 minutes) helps dull it a bit.  Drinking Gatorade helps a bit.  Tylenol does nothing.  Sleep seems to help, but I wake up with it just as raging as it was before I lay down.  HELP!  I'm in the middle of my 11 year olds birthday sleep-over, and then have a summer solstice celebration to go to later today that will take us well into the night, and I'm miserable!

Try to wear sunglasses all the time. Sounds weird but helps me when i have really bad headaches.

Re: Never ending migraines in pregnancy

Can you handle caffeiene? When I used to get migrains the dr. said to drink a coke - then I would  also take a caffeine pill.

Re: Never ending migraines in pregnancy

I had one horrible week long I would say almost-migraine this pregnancy and caffeine helped a lot.  I have been trying to avoid all caffeine but I figured that was much better for baby than pain meds.  Also there are pressure points on your wrist just below your palms that if you squeeze can give you almost instant relief.  Oh and if Gatorade helps more than water it must be the electrolytes. Have you tried bananas? I'm sorry - its a miserable feeling!

Re: Never ending migraines in pregnancy

If you find out the secret let me know! I cannot have caffeine due to a heart condition and Tylenol is no help. I am at day 4 of a migraine. My OB has prescribed vicodin for it but I don't really want to take any narcotics.

Re: Never ending migraines in pregnancy

Yesterday sitting outside all day helped dull it to a manageable level.  Now its back and raging again.  Going to try to hit the chiro tomorrow and see if it is my neck out of alignment.
