Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

Do you know a nurse?  I use the catheter part of an IV and a 3ml needless syringe with a leur lock.  Instead cups and preseed from Walgreens.

Look up medical supply stores too.

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

I will check those out. I am working til Sunday so I need to get one quickly. There is a target, walgreens, and Kroger within 2 minutes of me. So hopefully one of them will have it. Thanks TxMoms2b

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

Well you won't find a catheter at any of those places or a syringe with a luer lock.  BUT the syringes that they give away for children to take meds have a nice elongated tip.  You could just skip the catheter and place the tip of the syringe near the os of cervix and then place instead cup.

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

Your vet might have some supplies you could purchase as well.  I used a tom cat catheter for my IUIs.  If they won't sell you a syringe, you might find what you're looking for at your pet store like Coastal Farm and Ranch.

I'd also call NW.  If this is their error they might overnight it to you so you'll have it Friday or help you find a local source.

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

I found my instead cups and catheter attachment from the previous insem that I never used. So that is good. Zach offered to send the kit but it won't be here until Friday. I may not o until the weekend but I want to be prepared just in case. Thanks for reminding me of those. I never would have looked for them if you hadn't.

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

A medical supply store will sell needle less syringes with a leur lock attachment for $.50.  I forgot to...borrow...some from the job, and purchased 5 for a little over $2.

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

You may have already purchased the supplies, but if not, definitely try a local Veterinarian. They will usually sell you the TomCat catheter and syringes (minus needles) without question...or you can be honest about their usage.
Good luck with the upcoming insemination! Fingers and toes crossed for you! smile

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

I was able to get some free needleless syringes at target pharmacy no questions asked. So happy now. Thanks Turtleheart. I hope this one works for me too. I see that you are trying in January.

Yep. Should be about mid-January. We're going through an RE this time, so my head has been spinning with all of the additional testing, etc. that has to be completed before then. Hoping that after 9 failed at home ICI's, the doctor and medication assisted IUI does the trick.  smile

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

Hope that goes well for you Turtleheart. So you will be taking meds next time?

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

I'll be taking Letrozole days 3-7, and then there will be a trigger shot. I haven't taken meds before, so I'm not sure what to expect. I have seen many of the ladies post about the side effects of Clomid, and I'm hoping this isn't as bad.

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

I hope it isn't too bad. So the trigger makes you ovulate? And the other meds do what? I just hope it only takes one time for you. Did the doctor figure out what the problem was?

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

No medical issues at all, but I am 43.  hmm  I believe that the Letrozole stimulates follicle production, and the trigger shot activates ovulation. I hope that's correct...one of the other ladies may be more educated on this than I am. The RE did say that everything looks good (especially at my "advanced" age), that I have more follicles than he expected at this point, but that my cervix makes a pretty sharp right turn which may be why the ICI didn't work. I'm feeling hopeful for the IUI next month. We've planned for three tries, but I'd be over the moon if it worked the first time! smile

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

Yeah the right turn most likely did have something to do with it. Knowing that, I really do think that one try would really work for you. Getting everything where it should be without dealing with your cervix.

I am getting more and more nervous. I have no appetite at all. Oh Zach is sending out an insem kit, overnighting it. We shall see if I get it before I O. I shouldn't O til Monday but who know. I have been taking Omega 3's everyday and I think that has made me O like I am supposed to instead of day 8 or 9. Just waiting for all those signs of ovulation to commence.

Re: And no insem kit with my dewar...

I am so excited for you! I'm glad that Zach is getting that kit to you quickly. Will you get it today (Friday)?  Good luck!

Thanks. I will most likely second guess myself til the cows come home. But cervix was high, so so high and soft so I went ahead.
