Topic: Anyone had placenta previa at 21 weeks? Any experience would be great.

Hello,
I had my midwife appointment where we reviewed the mid pregnancy ultrasound in more detail today. I apparently have placenta previa, but it's not totally covering my cervix. I'll have a repeat ultrasound in 8 weeks to see if it resolves itself. Of course I would rather have natural childbirth than a c-section, but the baby is healthy and that's the most important thing. She said to be careful about rigorous exercise and lifting things. Has anyone had this? Did yours resolve itself? Thanks for any shared experience!

Most of my friends who had this had it resolve itself.  One did not and ended up with an emergency c-section at about 37 weeks after she slipped down the stairs at her house.  The uterus grows so much during pregnancy that even low-lying ones tend to migrate north.  There's a small chance it might not, so definite keep getting monitored just in case.

Yes, mine resolved by 28 weeks.  They said it had to be 2.5cm away from the cervix to avoid a c-section.  I was always asked about spotting, but I never had problems.  Don't worry.  You have plenty of time to grow!

Yep, had it early on with my first pregnancy, but it resolved itself.

Oh that makes me feel so much better! Thank you so much! I will just wait for the next ultrasound and try not to worry. I guess there's nothing I can do anyway- just do what's best for my little girl. Thanks!

I also had it. I think it was around 28-30 weeks when it resolved. I had a vaginal delivery with no problems.
