Topic: FRER v. WONDFO?

Hi all.
Here is my dilemma, (and yes I am one of those early testers).  I took a dollar store test this Sunday, at 9dpo. I saw a hint of a line or at least what I thought was one, so I ran out and bought some FRER test. Took one and a faint line came up immediately, tested again at 10 dpo with FMU and the line came up immediately again, darker, but still faint.
I am aware it's extremely early. I also have had two pregnancies both resulting in miscarriages. I had a 20 pack of wondfos so I tested with one this morning and the line was so faint you had to hold it up an squint to see it. I have heard that wondfo lines really do not get dark until after missed AF or sometimes never. Has anyone had an experience like this? I plan to keep testing w wondfo to see if they get darker, and have my betas done the end of the week after 14dpo. I am trying not to be nervous and worry and keep praying for a sticky bean!!

Re: FRER v. WONDFO?

I think the Wondfo tests are great for the neurotic early tester... But I would confirm with a FRER, just to be sure.. and then not go back to the Wondfo.  We had inconclusive results that were not consistent with the Wondfo, though it was enough to make us go to the FRER on our BFP month.  Prior to that the Wondfo's had always been stark white so there had been no need to go to the FRER, if that makes sense.  Once we got the BFP on the FRER, however, we didn't go back to the Wondfo simply because they can be so fickle.
Good luck!!

Re: FRER v. WONDFO?

I always used Wondfo for my early neurotic testing and they always gave me clear results. They were stark white when I was not pregnant, and when I got that faint first line, I backed it up with a FRER which showed a smidgen darker of a line. They did eventually get darker, but a little slower than the FRER.

After 9 yrs & 1 devastating loss, we got our BFP at 9DPO ~ and welcomed our beautiful son on Halloween! Best treat ever!!

Re: FRER v. WONDFO?

I wouldn't worry at all, considering you are testing with different brands, no matter the brands.  And even if you WERE testing with all the same brand, even then the tests can get lighter OR darker day by day.  With urine it's not that predictable and has a lot to do with how hydrated you are.  In my first two weeks of pregnancy (well first two weeks after the positive) I tested every day like a mad person and the line was often lighter and I would FREAK.  But I am now 17 weeks pregnant with a very healthy little one. :-)

Re: FRER v. WONDFO?

I took both at the same time and got just about equally light lines.  However, I had a much more consistent darkening pattern with the wondfos - even from different batches - than I did with the FRER.  For me the FRERs were inconsistent - lighter one day, darker the next- while the wondfos grew darker every day.  My betas were going in the right direction at a great pace.  I never had a very dark FRER.  Though I stopped testing at 15 DPO with them and 17 DPO with the wondfos.

I think all tests are fickle and work in slightly different ways, so -- a line is a line lady!!  Congratulations!!

Re: FRER v. WONDFO?

Never have used Wondfo but wanted to say I sure hope that those lines darken and you have your bfp!

Re: FRER v. WONDFO?

We got our first line using a Wondo and then did a FRER.  We did use more Wondfos after just to see if it was getting darker and it did (slightly), until it was way darker.  And most, if not all of the testing, was done before a missed AF.  A line is a line as apulsa said, so congrats! Stick little bean!
