Topic: Update after yesterday's ultrasound check for IUGR
We're 38 weeks and 3 days now. We went in yesterday for a biophysical profile and growth scan. The baby is still tiny. Her head circumference and femur length were reading like 32 weeks or so. But overall, they estimate she's in the 12th percentile, and weighs about 6 lbs 2 ounces. So we were thrilled to hear that. From the OB's view, she's holding steady. But she's still not exactly thriving, so we're planning an induction next week. The doctor was inclined to do it this week, but DW is not dilated at all, and her cervix was softening but was still long and closed, so the doc said the risk of C-section outweighed the benefit of early delivery at this point since the fluid levels are good, doppler flow is great, and the baby isn't losing ground. She's moving a lot, practicing breathing, and doing everything she should do so I'm trying to trust that everything will be alright. The doc was so sweet, he even offered that we could come in on Friday for a NST just to ease our worry over the weekend, but the baby moves so much I didn't feel it was necessary. I'm trying to choose hope and calm and confidence over worry and obsessive behavior, so figured I'd better start by turning down any unnecessary tests.
Thanks for "listening"
Will keep you posted.
